Texas Farmers Union announces the 106th State Convention January 25-26, 2008 at Omni Marina Hotel, 900 Shoreline Boulevard, Corpus Christi, Texas.
We will begin the Convention at 8:30 a.m. Friday January 25, 2008. We will board buses at 10:30 to go to the King Ranch. We will return to the hotel by 5:00 p.m.
Committee orientation will start at 8:00 a.m. Friday, January 25, 2008. The National Anthem will be sung by
Laccy Nicole Johns, winner of the 2007 “Rural American Idol.” The reception will start at 7:00. We will
have the dedication of the convention and additional entertainment will follow including Russell Lindsey and Norman Cason.
President’s Breakfast will kick off Saturday morning agenda at 7:00 a.m. During the morning different topics will be brought by various speakers and at 12:00 noon we will have the Legislative Luncheon.
A seminar on the “Carbon Credit Program” will be lead by Mr. Dale Enerson, at 1:30 p.m. Saturday January 26, 2008.
Policy Drafting will start at 3:00 p.m. Highest priority will be; 2008 Farm Bill, Disaster Assistance, implementation of Country of Origin Labeling, Dairy Policy, and cellulosic farm fuels in Texas.
National Farmers Union President Tom Buis will speak at the Saturday evening banquet.
We culminate the Convention with an Auction. Please begin to visit your local Farm Equipment, Co-ops or other businesses you do business with to acquire items to be brought to the Auction. The Businesses will have their name announced when their item is auctioned. All proceeds will go to the Farmers Union Charitable Fund.
